Economist, with a concentration in Administration and Finance. She is a graduate of New York University (NYU) in New York City where she obtained her degree in Economics and Political Science. She completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Columbia University also in New York City.

María José Martínez has extensive experience in the financial sector, having served as Director of Institutional Banking for Citibank in the Dominican Republic and as Vice President in the Citibank´s group dedicated to advising the Public Sector for Latin America based in New York.

María José also has experience in the Public Sector having served as Program Officer for the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago de Chile, as well as Program Manager in the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development.
