Nonfinancial public sector debt represents the 47.9% of GDP

As of June 30th, 2026, the nonfinancial public sector (NFPS) external and domestic debt totaled US$67,370.7 million. This amount represents 47.9% of the estimated GDP.

The 71.2% of the NFPS total debt corresponds to external debt, which presented a balance of US$47,989.7 million, while the remaining 28.8% corresponds to domestic debt, which totaled RD$1,147,195.7 million, equivalent to US$19,381.0 million, at the exchange rate of RD$/US$=59.1917. These amounts represent 34.1% and 13.8% of the estimated GDP, respectively. Of the total domestic debt, US$2,236.2 million (1.6% of GDP) corresponds to intergovernmental bonds debt issued by the Central Government for the recapitalization of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic. The intergovernmental debt is that contracted by one government institution with another.
